WHO WE ARE
As part of XTG (Experience Technology Group), Senior Project Engineers provide post-sales support to bring immersive and experiential projects to life in partnership with AVI-SPL offices around the globe. This engineering role will provide additional details about how a design approach will be built and configured to uphold the vision of the XTG pre-sales team and our growing network of creative partners.
XTG Project Engineers are responsible for final design configuration, confirmation of and detailed layout of equipment, and development and testing of Audio-Visual systems integration projects. XTG Project Engineers will research solutions, coordinate information with partners and vendors, and support technical troubleshooting during in-process installations, owning the outcomes of the final product. This particular role will have an additional emphasis on Enterprise Broadcast systems for capture, recording, processing, and distribution of audiovisual content within a business context.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Work with the XTG Broadcast Design Engineers to provide technical oversight of a project from award through installation and completion, including creative technology engineering details and system configuration coordination for XTG and their partners
- Review project Scope of Work (SOW) to ensure quality and completeness
- Review hour estimation for work based on needs analysis, scope of work and bid requirements
- Develop and review engineering and architectural (Signal Flow/RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculations and facilitate coordination with disciplines and trades
- Identify and address technical or logistical impediments to delivering scope of work
- Identify special requirements for project, including but not limited to: test equipment, specialized tools, rigging support
- Test broadcast audio and video systems and software required for system functionality
- Generate functional system descriptions and block diagrams
- Provide engineering support to project installation team when needed
- Provide systems support to project installation team technical oversight on commissioning when needed
- Serve as Customer liaison for engineering inquiries
- Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate products and identify new creative technologies
- Provide weekly project updates to XTG Engineering Manager
- Test integrated systems and perform troubleshooting when needed
- Provide Project Manager documented test results from system testing and commissioning
- Review project designs created by internal and external resources and submit to CAD department
- Review field and shop red-line drawings, revise shop drawings to “as-built’ status for submission
- Travel to various job sites both domestic and internationally is required
- Support of meetings outside of local time zones is required (up to 20 times per year)
- Other duties assigned as needed
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Skills and Abilities:
- The candidate must have a strong expertise in broadcast video and audio signal flow, from acquisition to transmission. This includes knowledge of various signal formats (HD/UHD, analog, digital), cameras, routers, switchers, and signal processing devices
- Ability to read, understand and augment AV signal flow, infrastructure plans and architectural coordination drawings
- Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software like AutoCAD or Bluebeam to create system schematics and technical drawings. Strong documentation skills are a must for creating accurate system manuals and records
- Ability to program and operate a wide array of broadcast equipment such as cameras, switchers, routers, audio mixers, and signal processing devices
- The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of IP networking concepts, including TCP/IP, multicast, VLANs, and Quality of Service (QoS). Experience with SMPTE 2110, AES67, and other Audio/Video over IP (NDI and AVoIP) standards is highly desirable
- The candidate should be a skilled problem-solver, capable of diagnosing complex technical faults
- The candidate should be proficient in using a wide range of test and calibration equipment, such as signal generators, waveform monitors, and audio analyzers
- A deep understanding of video and audio codecs, compression, and formats (e.g., H.264, HEVC, AAC) and also includes familiarity with video streaming protocols like RTMP, HLS, and DASH for over-the-top (OTT) and live streaming applications
- Experience with broadcast automation systems and Media Asset Management (MAM) software. This includes understanding how content is ingested, stored, and played out for on-air or digital distribution
- Excellent customer-facing and communications skills
- Team Leadership & Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively coordinate with customers, IT, and other stakeholders
- Proven business writing skills
- Ability to work and think creatively as well as independently and ensuring to meet deadlines and solve problems with a 'how can it be done' attitude
- Support user acceptance testing
- Advanced computer skills as required for the design configuration and operation of AV equipment
- Valid passport to travel internationally is required
- Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards
Education and/or Experience:
- Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
- Formal education in Electronics or related field preferred
- Past performance in broadcasting or enterprise broadcasting job role preferred
- Experience with Ross Video, VIZRT, Blackmagic Design preferred
- Experience with operating a live broadcast production preferred
- Minimum Seven years of broadcast and AV experience is preferred
- A four year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience
- AVIXA General CTS (Certified Technical Specialist) is preferred

This pay range represents the base salary for this position. Actual compensation within the range will depend on a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, and location.
