WHAT YOU’LL DO

 

The Product Owner is the key stakeholder of the CPQ platform, holding a deep understanding of the user community, the organization’s core workflows, and platform use cases. The Product Owner works closely with other stakeholders throughout both the business and IT Team, understanding the needs of our business community and what features and experiences drive successful outcomes for our business. This role guides the success and relevancy of the CPQ platform and serves as the primary functional lead for all the cross-functional teams that are responsible for improving it. The Product Owner is responsible for working with AVI-SPL leaders across the organization to prioritize the backlog based on business value and serving as the point person for Engineers, Developers, Testers and Operations on the Technology team. The Product Owner participates in key meetings, including stand-ups, backlog grooming, sprint planning, release planning, and release readiness. This role is responsible for signing off on features to ensure they meet the agreed-upon acceptance criteria and overall business need.

 

Day-To-Day Responsibilities:

 

  • Develop, and execute product vision, strategy, and road map. Continually iterate to ensure the business needs are met.
  • Lead development of new features throughout the entire product development life cycle, from concept to delivery.
  • Develop features and product backlog items for all new functionality, presenting features and product backlog items to the extended teams in grooming and design sessions.
  • Ensure new functionality meets the pre-defined acceptance criteria so the work can be designated as complete.
  • Coordinate release planning, testing, and implementation of features and functionality with the program managers.
  • Work across the enterprise and its different business units to build consensus on the prioritization of features and functionality.
  • Ensure that the feature backlog is constantly prioritized to secure delivery of maximum business value.
  • Review completed work of IT. Has final sign-off of the feature release.
  • Responsible for business stakeholder management, providing clear and consistent communication of all product development to the business, management, and technology team.
  • Work cross-functionally with all business stakeholders and leaders to determine the desired protocol for how requirements should be organized, defined, prioritized, and approved.
  • Logically organize requirements into Epics, Features, and Product Backlog Items. Determines the dependencies of these requirements between each other, and the sequencing for development of these requirements.
  • Work with the Business Architect and CPQ Functional Architect to map business capabilities to ERP system capabilities.
  • Work with the Business Analysts to map business process definitions and data flow design to development requirements for the CPQ platform.
  • Serve as the primary business point of contact with the steerco. Determines the definition of scope, cost, and time in delivering CPQ functionality.
  • Serve as the mediator between IT and the business stakeholders, building consensus on what the CPQ can deliver in relation to what the business wants, balancing business needs, time constraints, cost, and resource availability. Drives compromises between the two sides to ensure delivery of CPQ functionality.
  • Ensure requirements are being written appropriately and provided to IT in a clear, logically organized, and actionable manner.
  • Function as the primary functional SME on all CPQ features and functionality.
  • Coordinate and/or provides demos, training, and knowledge transfer in the proper use of the CPQ.
  • Ensures the creation of product documentation, accurately capturing how the CPQ works.
  • Maintain a strong technical and architectural understanding on how the CPQ platform is designed to work.
  • Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

Must-Haves:

 

  • 5+ years of diverse business experience in a product and project delivery business model
  • 3+ years in either a business analyst of product owner/manager capacity with a CPQ platform
  • Excellent multitasking capabilities while adapting to changing priorities
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • The ability to communicate and interact extraordinarily well & in a professional & timely manner
  • The ability to advocate and build consensus for what you believe in
  • High Level of proficiency with Microsoft productivity & collaboration platforms
  • An approachable and collaborative disposition

 

Nice-To-Haves:

 

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in a complex organizational environment
  • Familiarity with agile methodologies and tools
  • Prior experience with specific CPQ platforms (e.g., PROs, Salesforce, Oracle)
  • Background in business process mapping or architectural design
  • Knowledge of data flow design and business capability modeling
