WHAT YOU’LL DO
The UCC Architect is a member of AVI-SPL’s Technology & Innovation Group responsible for supporting, architecting, promoting and scaling the company’s Technology and Innovation practice, focusing primarily on current and emerging Microsoft UCC technologies. The position is focused on enabling our global sales, business development, design, and solutions architecture teams to understand, contribute to, and consistently deliver Innovative Microsoft UCC and AI technology solutions to customers.
Day-To-Day Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic guidance to the Tech & Innovation group to address current and future technology trends in Microsoft Unified Communications and Collaboration (Teams Meetings, Teams Rooms, Teams Phone) and adjacent technologies such as Teams Premium, Microsoft Places and Copilot.
- Engage with UCC business development personnel and meet with customers, discover opportunities for product and services sales, and assist in the development of those specific opportunities. These activities include hosting technical workshops and other customer engagement activities.
- Focus on supporting opportunities in our pre-sales pipeline, beginning with initial awareness of opportunities and following through to successful booking of new business.
- Partner with UCC Practice leads to provide technical support and guidance for our strategic goals of specific UCC Practices.
- Serve as a Tier 4 technical resource for key customer opportunities, high profile projects, and Pilot Programs.
- Represent and position the company as the global leader in the areas of innovation and technology via media opportunities, trade magazine interviews and articles, trade show presentations, LinkedIn posts and other media opportunities
- Coordination with procurement department to assist in preferred partner vendor selection & utilization within the internal technical community
- Direct interaction with preferred vendor technical leadership to evaluate product and discuss/shape technology roadmaps
- Develop Microsoft UCC training strategies for internal departments based on technologies, tools & processes that are created & rolled out to various internal groups
- Partners with senior leadership to understand business needs, drivers & direction in order to align engineering with company needs
- Participate in the development of projects that consist of a variety of challenges and cross-departmental coordination as it relates to new business creation, business innovation, new products and strategic initiatives
- Development & maintenance of predefined, repeatable solutions to improve sales velocity, executed margins, preferred partner utilization & overall customer experience
- Drive a strong customer service mind-set within the internal technical community
- Builds long-term relationships within the team, among peers and with Microsoft associates by creating an environment of accomplishment, encouragement & innovation
- Travel to regional offices to directly interface with technical leadership and team members on an as needed basis
- Special projects as required
- Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives.

- AVI-SPL reserves the right to alter work hours and work location as necessary. Work hours may vary based on client requirements and may include travel to various locations in support of the account.
- This position will generally work on customer sites and may deal with a construction site type of work environment.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Must-Haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field; or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years of experience in Unified Communications, Collaboration, and AV integration solutions.
- Deep technical expertise in Microsoft Unified Communications & Collaboration technologies, including:
- Microsoft Teams (Meetings, Teams Rooms, Teams Phone)
- Microsoft Teams Premium, Places, Copilot, and AI-powered collaboration tools.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 ecosystem, Exchange, Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), Microsoft Security/Compliance frameworks and PowerShell.
- Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering enterprise-level UCC solutions for large global organizations.
- Hands-on experience with deployment models for Microsoft Teams Rooms,Microsoft Places, Teams Phone, Teams Direct Routing, Operator Connect, Teams Phone Mobile and Cloud Voice services.
- Strong understanding of video conferencing, SIP protocols, AV integration, voice routing, and telephony architecture.
- Proven ability to collaborate across pre-sales, business development, engineering, project management, and customer-facing teams.
- Experience leading technical workshops, solution discovery meetings, and customer presentations.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with complex multi-vendor UCC environments.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Willingness to travel to customer sites, regional offices, and conferences as required.
Nice-To-Haves:
- Industry certifications strongly preferred:
- Microsoft Certified: Teams Administrator Associate (MS700), Collaboration Communications Systems Engineer Associate (MS721), Teams Voice Engineer, or Microsoft Solutions Architect Expert.
- Additional certifications in Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, or collaboration platforms.
- Experience integrating Microsoft UCC solutions with third-party AV platforms (e.g., Crestron, Poly, Cisco, Logitech, Q-SYS, Extron, etc.).
- Familiarity with AI/ML technologies used in collaboration platforms (Microsoft Copilot, AI-powered meeting transcription, sentiment analysis, etc.).
- Experience with procurement vendor evaluations, strategic partner engagement, and technology roadmap planning.
- Familiarity with UC analytics platforms, monitoring tools, and management portals for Teams, Rooms, Phone and hybrid work environments.
- Experience contributing to media articles, trade shows, public speaking, or technical blogs.
- Background working in global or enterprise-scale managed service environments.
- Experience developing and delivering internal training and enablement programs for technical teams.
- Working knowledge of adjacent collaboration platforms such as Zoom, Webex, or Google Meet.
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks, ITSM tools, and enterprise governance models.
- Familiarity with IWMS (Integrated Management Workplace System) and top platforms like IBM Tririga, ServiceNow, Archibus, FM Systems and Eptura
