WHAT YOU’LL DO

 

The Associate Design Engineer is an entry-level position designed for individuals eager to build their skills and grow into a senior engineering role. In this position, you will support senior engineers on large projects by performing foundational tasks such as building bills of materials, assisting with design revisions, and organizing project documentation. This role focuses on learning and development, providing hands-on experience with AV system design and project workflows.

 

Local engineering managers will provide supervision, and fellow engineers will offer mentorship to guide your professional growth. While not directly customer-facing, you will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure designs are accurate, well-documented, and aligned with project goals. Attention to detail, organizational skills, and a willingness to learn are key to succeeding in this role. The Associate Design Engineer lays the groundwork for delivering high-quality designs that meet customer and project team expectations.

 

Day-To-Day Responsibilities:

 

Pre-Sales Design and Proposal Efforts

 

  • Assist senior engineers by building and organizing bills of materials for projects.
  • Identify and estimate all required cabling, infrastructure, and miscellaneous materials.
  • Review and update design documentation such as Scopes of Work or Design Portfolios.
  • Support design efforts by drafting system diagrams and layouts using CAD or other design tools.
  • Assist with equipment research and vendor coordination as needed.

Project Responsibilities

  • Organize project documentation, including infrastructure requirements and design standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including engineering and project management, to ensure design accuracy and completeness serving as a go-to for design reviews.
  • Maintain organized records of project materials and revisions to support efficient workflows.

Developmental Responsibilities

  • Diligently work through the learning plan while balancing engineering support activities
  • Participate in mentorship activities to grow technical knowledge and skills.
  • Learn and apply company standards for system design and documentation.
  • Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives.

  • Passion and aptitude for understanding technology and audiovisual systems.
  • Moderate to advanced skills with Microsoft M365 Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Valid driver’s license and a motor vehicle record meeting company standards.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; formal education in a related field is preferred.

 

Nice-To-Haves:

 

  • A foundational understanding of AV or IT systems is preferred but not required.
  • Formal education in Electronics, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as AVIXA (CTS certification), ANSI/TIA, or similar guidelines.
  • Basic understanding of AV systems, IT networking, or related technologies.
  • Experience with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu) or other design software.
  • Prior exposure to AV projects, including installation or support tasks.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as engineering, project management, or vendors.
  • Strong interest in emerging AV technologies and their applications.
  • 1-2 Years of experience in AV Install, Service, Commissioning or similar is preferred.
