WHAT YOU’LL DO

 

• Onsite Maintenance Engineer is identified as a position intended to oversee the day-to-day AV/UC operations and onsite AV/UC support. This position will also be responsible for advanced diagnostic troubleshooting and problem resolution for all system failures, support, and repairs of all AV/UC equipment within fully integrated conference rooms, boardrooms, and other similar rooms containing AV/UC equipment. In addition, he/she will perform detailed preventive maintenance checks and services intended to maintain the systems at peak operating performance. Other responsibilities will include training, generation of required reports, inventory management, and working with the Customer to facilitate the implementation of new systems including QA and install in some cases.

• Onsite Maintenance Engineer will be required to meet Government security guidelines to properly maintain AV/VTC systems located in secure spaces. Must possess or be able to obtain TS/SCI clearance; at least Secret clearance is required to start.

 

General Responsibilities

 

At a minimum, the Onsite Maintenance Engineer will accomplish the following tasks as part of their responsibilities:

• Perform routine preventive maintenance checks, services, and advanced diagnostic troubleshooting to AV/VTC systems.

• Field service support of networked devices (Routers, IP Protocols, etc.)

• Oversee day-to-day AV operations.

• Provide support in AV/VTC call management support from the endpoint as needed.

• Provide control system and digital signal processing equipment maintenance and support including minor configuration changes to control system, interface graphics or DSP as needed to optimize performance.

• Support new buildouts of conference rooms and support the onboarding of newly commissioned rooms.

• Apply service packs and update the Cisco Unified Communications Managers and Synergy Sky servers to stay in compliance with STIG, IAVM’s and non-IAVM’s. Engineer must obtain ALT-S (Alternate-System) access for elevated privileges (see below)

• Provide direct assistance and training to end users in the operation of AV systems.

• Coordinate any contractor and/or manufacturer provided field support as required.

• Ensure compliance with all customer safety and procedural guidelines at all times.

• Track all maintenance activity start to finish with proper documentation.

• Maintain sufficient spares on hand to affect rapid problem resolution for routine service issues.

• Coordinate with AVI-SPL Help Desk for collateral support, RMA processing and parts procurement as needed.

• Maintain accurate inventory on all AV/VTC systems including spare parts.

• Perform administrative tasks such as completing service tickets & reports, maintaining active status board on system readiness, etc.

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

Must-Haves:

 

Privileged access will be needed for access to administrative functions to the Cisco Unified Communications Managers and Synergy Sky servers. 

To gain privileged access ALT-S or ALT-D the Onsite Maintenance Engineer must have the below certificates or certifications: 

  • CompTIA Security + with up-to-date CE’s 
  • Microsoft MCSA or MCSE or certificate of completion for the below courses: 
  • Updating to Server 2019: Windows Server 2019 Features 
  • Updating to Server 2019: Windows Server Installations 
  • Updating to Server 2019: Server Configuration 
  • Updating to Server 2019: Server Roles 
  • Windows Server 2019 - Administration Concepts 
  • Windows Server 2019 - Configuring and Maintaining 

 

  • TS clearance with the ability to obtain TS/SCI.
  • Effectively communicate with employees, customers and colleagues
  • Ability to use hand and power tools in a safe and efficient manner and to solder & crimp connectors
  • Ability to manage small to medium projects
  • Familiarity with minor programming (AMX/Creston) – changes and troubleshooting
  • Ability to work and think independently and ensuring to meet deadlines
  • Intermediate computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of basic signal flow for audio, video and control
  • Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standard
  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to regularly climb and work from ladders up to heights of 35 feet; lifting equipment, tools and materials.

 

Nice-To-Haves:

 

  • Minimum of 3 - 5 years of audiovisual integration and/or service experience
  • Formal education in Electronics or related field
  • The following training certifications:
    • AMX Intro to Networking for AV Professionals
    • AMX Programmer I
    • Crestron Professional Installation
    • Essentials of Crestron Programming Certification
    • Exton AV Associate Certification
    • InfoComm Quick Start to the Audio-Visual Industry
    • InfoComm CTS General Certification
