XTG is a global team that develops, designs, and supports experiential projects in partnership with AVI-SPL regional offices.

 

As part of XTG (Experience Technology Group), Design Engineers provide proposal details and pre-sales coordination for creative AV designs to enable experiential storytelling.  This customer-facing, senior design role supports pre-sales creative engineering and provides on-going post-sales project support. 

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

 

A Senior Design Engineer’s main function is to provide presales support by acting as a technical consultant to the sale force with generating functional system descriptions, block flow diagrams, estimating hours, highlighting logistical challenges for the sales team to consider while pricing the opportunity, and equipment lists to enable generation of customer proposals. A Senior Design Engineer is also leveraged by the post sales team for project engineering and or on going project consultation. In addition, this role is expected to review and validate the work of a Design Engineer 1 and 2. This position will be a part of an Experiential COE and will work collaboratively with an XTG Technologist and XTG Program Manager to support work in a variety of verticals with an emphasis on human-centric design to transform spaces through the application of experiential technology.

 

Day-to-Day Responsibilities: 

  • Provide creative technology design support, in partnership with XTG Creative Technologists, for XTG and their partners
  • Translate customer requirements of XTG Creative Technologist or Creative Partner vision into functional system designs and proposals
  • Communicate design intent with hand sketches, electronic drawings, renderings, diagrams, outlines, storyboards, and/or narratives
  • Take ownership of problem-solving
  • Develop engineering and architectural (RCP/Floor Plan) drawings, calculations, and facilitate coordination with other disciplines and trades
  • Review pre-construction design and documentation
  • Assist with technical design pricing and identify any logistical challenges
  • Generate functional system descriptions and block diagrams
  • Provide engineering support to project installation team when needed
  • Serve as Customer liaison for engineering inquiries
  • Meet with vendors/prospective vendors to help evaluate products and identify new creative technologies
  • Post sales project consultation
  • Review and validate the work of lower-level Design Engineers
  • Support of meetings outside of local time zones is required (approximately 20 times per year)
  • Other duties as needed

 

 

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

 

Must Haves: 

  • Excellent customer-facing and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and interact with internal employees, clients, and colleagues in a professional and timely manner
  • Track record of designing and implementing experiential AV solutions
  • Advanced proficiency in Networking and AVoIP solutions
  • Ability to work and think creatively and independently with a "how can it be done" mentality to ensure deadlines are met and problems are solved
  • Ability to diagnose complex system problems
  • Proficiency with test and calibration equipment
  • Support user acceptance testing
  • Advanced computer skills as required for the design, configuration, and operation of AV equipment
  • Ability to travel internationally is required
  • Valid Driver's License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI-SPL driving standards

 

 

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Formal education in Systems Engineering, Networking, Electronics or related field preferred
  • Previous work with a consultancy, creative agency, production house, or creative fabricator preferred
  • At least 10 years of AV experience is preferred
  • CTS-I and CTS-D preferred
  • A minimum of 6 *years of AV experience plus a four-year degree or military experience may be considered in place of job experience
