Job Summary

The VP, SaaS Product Management, will develop Symphony’s product vision, goals and roadmap.  They will work closely with the VP of Product Marketing to define the go-to-market strategies for AVI-SPL Symphony.  The VP Product Management will synthesize primary and secondary research data to formulate clear perspectives on market trends, addressable markets, and competitive threats.  The successful candidate will ensure that the product strategy reflects market needs, client value, usability, adoption, feasibility, and successful commercialization. This person will prioritize external Technology Partners (third-party device and application) integration and other strategic Partners to enable effective and consistent capabilities driven by market demand.   Success criteria for this candidate will be achievement of AVI-SPL Symphony annual operating plan – including key financial metrics, ARR, Net Revenue Retention, Gross Margin and Customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage the entire product life cycle from sunsetting legacy products/features to prototyping and testing new products/features and ideas.
  • Build supporting business models for, bring to market, and manage the lifecycle of new features and / or consumption models that differentiate AVI-SPL Symphony in the market and create value for the business.
  • Synthesize market data and use competitive and customer research to develop 1-3-5 year roadmaps to illustrate our vision and plan into the future.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders to collect direct feedback on market requirements.
  • Analyze competitive market intel from Product Marketing to keep a finger on the pulse of our competition and develop strategies and tactics to reduce the threat.
  • Develop and maintain business proposals that makes a compelling case for continued investment into Symphony.
  • Collaborate with other stakeholders such as product marketing on the creation of positioning for your products.
  • Lead a team of Product Owners to create user stories for current and future product/features and prioritize the backlog based on the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with Software Development Engineers and Cloud Infrastructure Services to ensure user stories get translated into technical tasks that deliver differentiated solutions and define product release requirements based on market problems
  • Drive buy-build-partner analysis, and where necessary, review potential partner relationships for the product.
  • Work with Product Marketing and Sales to know why we are winning and losing in the market, and drive changes, and improvements to our product
  • Conduct pricing analysis and determine the most competitive pricing strategy that gets updated and published in a standard rate plan internally and externally
  • Establish objective success metrics for AVI-SPL Symphony – and provide visibility to the achievement of these established criteria.

Skills and Abilities

  • Must be creative, collaborative, constructive, and able to embrace “The AVI-SPL Way”
  • Ideal candidate should have excellent presentation skills and be comfortable sharing thought leadership with Executive stakeholders from AVI-SPL, Customers, Manufacturers, and Third-Party Service Providers
  • Strong written skills and competence with business applications used to construct documents, financial analysis, or presentations  

Education and / or Experience

  • 15 years of proven experience in product management roles focused on Software as a Service (SaaS)
  • Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree in Business and/or Engineering is required. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of all elements of the product management process. Pragmatic Institute Certification (Product Management) or comparable industry certification is preferred.
  • Experience with Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) business and pricing models.
  • Proven track record of building and executing product roadmaps that produce customer value and revenue.
  • Excellent communication skills, technical aptitude, and the ability to work with diverse and technical teams.
  • Experience in presenting product roadmaps, business cases and concepts at the executive level.
  • Use data to measure and optimize results, and to inform decision-making and strategy development.
  • An experienced and hardworking leader with organizational agility, personnel leadership skills, and cross-group collaboration skills that foster positive morale, team professional growth and delivers results.
  • 5+ years of experience in IOT with emphasis in Audio Visual, Collaboration, IT, Facilities/Building Mgt is preferred

Direct Reports

This role will lead product management and product owner personnel.

Work Hours
