Description

The Graphic Designer, VR is a member of AVI-SPL’s Virtual Reality Design Services team. The position creates virtual workspaces to demonstrate real world workplace technology to accelerate decision making.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Use virtual reality tools to build, design, and present technology concepts to various stakeholders.
  • Use virtual reality tools to make real time changes to virtual spaces based on feedback from various stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to determine virtual space requirements, technology visualizations, and key areas of problem solving.
  • Collaborate with designers to ensure concepts are implemented accurately and meet technical specifications.
  • Create 3D objects, digital graphics, flythrough videos for deliverables and special events.
  • Use 3D Modeling tools to create/cleanup/convert models made from Blueprint Schematics/CAD/Revit drawings.
  • Create visual assets such as 3D renders and video flythroughs to be used in customer facing opportunities.
  • Maintain project files using a source control management platform.
  • Read and interpret AV systems drawings, site survey information, CAD, Revit and other documentation.
  • Ability to manage multiple VR design projects from concept to final deliverable.
  • Provide training to internal teams about tools & processes.
  • Travel to various expos, tradeshows, and other venues to demonstrate live workshops as a representative of the VR Design Services team.
  • Special projects as required.

 

Skills and abilities

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively articulate design concepts and rationale.
  • The ability to actively listen to customers and understand their needs and execute during live workshops.
  • Detail-oriented approach with a passion for creating intuitive and visually stunning user experiences.
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools like Maya, Blender, CAD, Revit and Sketchup.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud tools like Photoshop and Premiere.
  • Experience with Game Development and Unreal/Unity Game Engines.
  • Must be able to work in VR for long periods of time.

 

Education and / or Experience

  • A minimum of a 2-year degree or comparable industry experience is required.
  • 2+ years of experience as a 3D Modeler, Layout/Level  Designer or other related field is required.
  • Experience with VR/AR development HoloLens 2, Quest 2/3, or Magic Leap is a plus.
  • Experience with Twin Motion or Arch Viz tools is a plus.
  • Experience in the Audio Visual or collaboration industry is a plus.
  • AVIXA CTS certification or comparable industry certification is a plus.
