Job Summary

 

  • The primary role of the Production Technical Director is to program and live switch between media sources in a studio control room or field production environment, using equipment such as video /media switchers hardware/software, video projection systems, AV routing, graphics, and transition effects.

    This highly technical role is fast-paced and demanding. It requires a deep knowledge of video and audio production systems and processes. Candidates need to show that they can handle complex technical challenges and excel in this role.

    Candidates should be highly experienced working within a professional Team environment with the end goal of delivering a world-class Customer Service experience.

     

    The role will be a professional with advanced skills and experience in audio, video, and production, and works very well in a team environment.  They will work in partnership with the Customer and management team to provide on premises support for AVI-SPL customers at customer site(s) with the end goals of delivering a world-class Customer Service experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Live switching between media sources using equipment such as video switchers, projectors video walls, transition effects and graphics.
  • Work closely with the Director / Producer on technical show flow
  • Follows all operating procedures
  • Participates in creative project planning meetings
  • Participates in pre-production rehearsals
  • Executes project tasks related to live and field productions (e.g. soundboard, camera operation, technical director, control room operation etc.)
  • Participates in production setup and break down
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating all production systems. Will participate in daily, monthly and quarterly system checks, reporting any issue to the executive producer
  • Keep current with new technology development in equipment, hardware and computer software programs and plan for continual education of the Multimedia team 

 

Skills and Abilities

 

  • Expert experience of the New Tek Tricaster switchers (2 Elite)
  • Microsoft TEAMs and Town Hall streaming platform
  • Audio video routing and networking
  • NDI
  • AV signal flow
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and instructional literature
  • Basic knowledge of electrical systems
  • Embedded Audio
  • Digital and network Audio Systems
  • Biamp Digital Signal Processors
  • Audio mixers
  • Pro AV Control Systems Crestron / Ross
  • Web Streaming 

 

Education and/or Experience

  • Sufficient professional working technical knowledge to produce large live broadcasts within a corporate setting
  • 3 to 5 years of experience as Technical Director
  • A/V Control room experience (Live Productions)
  • NDI experience
  • Ability to troubleshoot audio technical issues before and during production events.
  • Working experience of bringing in Live remote feeds (MS Teams and Zoom etc.)
  • Working experience maintaining Audio Visual Equipment (production computers, projectors, electronic consoles, lighting, camera equipment, etc.)
  • Relevant software certifications or experience is a plus
  • Two or four year degree in audio-visual or related field; or two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Hours

 

40 hours - Mon – Fri, be flexible to work after hours and weekends when required. AVI-SPL reserves the right to alter work hours and work location as deems necessary.
